Miami Cigar & Company Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Humidor - Press Release

MIAMI, FL – Twenty-five years ago Nestor and Mariana Miranda began distributing cigars
out of the trunk of their car, visiting accounts that Nestor had built relationships with
through his many years in the liquor business. Never in their wildest dreams would they
have thought that twenty-five years later their hard work and dedication would translate
into one of the nations largest premium cigar distributors.

To commemorate this accomplishment Miami Cigar & Company has decided to release a
limited edition 25th Anniversary Humidor containing cigars from the two factories that
have helped them reach this milestone.“ We are very excited to be working with La Aurora
and My Father Cigars on this project”, said Jason Wood, Miami Cigar’s Vice President,
“Twenty-five years would not have been possible without the help of the Leon and Garcia
families and we thank them for that.”
This piano-finished humidor has the capacity for 75 cigars. It will contain 20 Toro sized
cigars, each packaged in their own individual coffin. The individual cigar will have a
secondary band denoting its country of origin. Total production on this limited release will
be 500 humidors set to hit the US market mid-March.

“I feel privileged to be a part of this historic milestone” said Wood. “What the Miranda’s
have been able to accomplish is something that I can only hope to duplicate in the 25 years
to come. They have provided us with the blueprint, now with the help of everyone at Miami
Cigar, we look forward to an amazing run continuing their legacy.”

Browsing the many cigars at Old Oaks Cigar & Wine Company my favorite cigar shop, I see a Pinolero but with a dark leaf wrapper. Could this be a Maduro? I ask Albert and he tells me about the cigar and I purchase a few. Being a fan of AJ Fernandez's cigars, I smoke one right away and enjoy it very much. I give one away and smoke my other one for this review.

This cigar is a well constructed, dark brown wrapped, minimally veined beauty. The band is the same band as the Pinolero natural. Two women thrashing corn. I sniffed the foot and smelled Hay, sweetness and farm. I placed the stick under my nose and picked up a barnyard scent. I clipped the cap with my Colibri Slice Cutter and it cuts nice and smooth. I took an open dry draw of chocolate and leather. I toasted the foot with my Colibri Eclipse lighter. A single flame which I now prefer over multiple flames. Why over toast the foot with a triple flame and char the wrapper? I tasted bittersweet chocolate and then cedar in my first few draws of full creamy smoke. Later in this third I tasted cocoa, white pepper and honey. The grey ash fell for the first time about an inch in. The burn was even.

 

The full creamy smoke continued to pump out and the burn was a little uneven. In the second section I tasted hints of cocoa, white pepper and coffee.

The last third and the band came off without incident. No tearing, cracks or defects underneath the band. The sweetness notes continued along with the white pepper and coffee. Burn even out and the smoke continued to be full and creamy.

The was a very good smoking experience and a Cigar Assessor Approved Cigar. If you see these at your local brick and mortar pick a few up. You'll be glad you did.

Davidoff 25th Anniversary Geneve 1980 - 2005 Limited Edition

On my recent trip to London, I along with my friend Joe Mosca were walking around Piccadilly Square and took a turn down St. James's Street and saw this Cigar Shop on the corner of Jermyn Street and St. James's Street with a big Davidoff Fine Cigars sign. I walked in and met the owner Edward Sahakian. He is a very nice, cool, knowledgeable man who I enjoyed talking with. He handed me a Davidoff 25th Anniversary cigar after a nice conversation about cigars. A cigar only available in London. Today, I decided it would be my first review of 2014.

This well constructed, nutty brown cigar had minimal veinage and a tiny pigtail at the cap. I sniffed the foot and smelled hay and cinnamon. From the stick came the aromas of sweat, hay and barnyard. I clipped the cap with my Colibri Slice cutter and took an open dry draw of sweetness and hay. I toasted the foot with a Colibri Maui single torch and tasted sweetness from the first few draws and then some hints of nuts.

 

The burn was even and the nice dense grey ash held its form and the smoke was full and creamy. Hints of nutmeg, wood and a mild sweetness were the flavors I tasted in the creamy smoke. 

The second third and the ash still didn't fall. The burn was still and remained even. The ash did fall off about halfway. Full smoke still kicking out and mild white pepper and molasses are the flavor note I tasted. The first band came off without incident. No cracks, tears, defects or glue underneath.

The last third and the second band came off also without incident. No tears, crack, defects or glue. The burn is and has been even throughout the smoking experience and the smoke continued to be full and creamy. Hints of orange peel, sweetness, white pepper and espresso round off the flavor notes in the last section.

There was a smooth transition between the flavors in this medium to full bodied cigar and it was an excellent smoking experience. The Davidoff 25th Anniversary cigar is a beautiful thing and a Cigar Assessor Approved Cigar. If you get a chance to visit Edward's shop I suggest you do. It's a great shop. Ask about this cigar and if he has some, give it a shot, you'll be glad you did. - January 4, 2014

Ditkowich will remain at the helm, continuing to produce new and exciting blend profiles. Arielle is excited for La Sirena's continued growth and looks forward to 2014 projects, industry shows and travelling to retail events.

 

Ditkowich is extremely grateful for everything Nestor Miranda and the entire Miami team has taught her during their partnership and will always look at the Miranda family as an extension of her own. Distribution of La Sirena and Merlion Cigars will remain under the Miami Cigar & Co. umbrella until December 31^st, 2013. Starting January 1^st, 2014 distribution will be handled by La Sirena.
