It's been a couple days since I had a cigar so I decided to open the humidor and see what looks good for today. The Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf E Supremo looked like a tasty treat with its chocolate brown color, minimal veins and box pressed shape. I took this stick along with a splash of Talisker 12 year Distiller Edition Single Malt scotch and went to the pool area.
This cigar comes bareback so I grabbed it and sniff the foot and smelled hay and got a scent of Barnyard and a floral scent from the stick.
I clipped the cap of this well constructed cigar with my cutter and got a very open dry draw of spice and hay. I lit the foot and tasted mild hints of wood and a mild cedar. Later during this first section I tasted mild notes of leather, salt and nuts. The smoke was a medium full smoke.
This dense nice grey ash helds its form for about a third of the stick before it fell. After this is began to burn uneven. The smoke was full and notes of cedar, spice and nuts dominated this sections flavors. They weren't very strong but mild. The first band of red and gold came off really easy and without incident.
The last third of the stick and the burn became very uneven and the grey ash stayed on. The smoke was still pumping full. The second band with the company name and logo also came off easily and without incident. Cedar was still the note I tasted with some spice and bitterness. I found my tongue feeling hot and after a few puffs more puffs of heat I had to put the cigar down.
I had high hopes when I picked this cigar which was recommended to me. It has a very nice presentation but really didn't deliver for a maduro. With all the great maduro cigars out there, it is my opinion you should pass on this stick. Check out my other maduro reviews for help. If you smoked one or decided to smoke one let me know what you thought of it. - April 29, 2013
