Kristoff Ligero Maduro Robusto

The Kristoff Ligero Maduro is one of my favorite maduro cigars. I have been reviewing so many cigars I forgot I never reviewed it.

I grabbed a robusto stick from my humidor along with a cup of home brewed Starbucks Italian Roast coffee and Chuao Maple Bacon All Natural Milk Chocolate Bar and headed to the pool on this beautiful sunny 75 degree late morning.

I took the well constructed, dark chocolate colored, minimally vein cigar from its cellophane wrapper and sniffed sweet barnyard from its shaggy foot and the same smell aroma from the stick. I clipped the pigtail cap with my Xikar Xi1 cutter and tasted cocoa and caramel from it's nice open dry draw. This stick is double banded with Kristoff written on the larger brown and white band and maduro written on the smaller band. I lit the shaggy foot and a blast of cedar flavor filled my mouth along with full white smoke.

As I smoked on, the burn remained even and the mishmash of dense grey ash with spots of black held its form. The flavors I experience in this section were notes of wood, cedar, cocoa and coffee. I ate a piece of the milk chocolate and it went very well with this section of the cigar.

In the second third, the ash fell off for the first time and held its form. The burn was still even and the flavor notes I tasted were coffee, cinnamon, citrus and spiciness. I took the first smaller band off without incident of tearing, cracking or glue problems. The draw remained open and the smoke was still kicking out full.

As I got into the last third, the ash had fallen again and the burn remained even and the smoke full. The flavor notes were spicier in this section with pepper and spice dominating the last section. I was able to take off the second larger band also without incident of tearing, cracking or glue blobs. I smoked this robusto until I couldn't hold it any more. Another great cigar from Kristoff.

All I can say is if your haven't had a chance to smoke a Kristoff Ligero Maduro, you should. It is a fantastic smoking experience.

1502 Emerald Toro

Filler:  San Andres, Mexico and fields from Estelí and Condega in Nicaragua.

A couple of days ago as I walked by my mailbox I noticed a package on top of the box addressed to the Cigar Assessor. Oh yeah, new cigars! I open the package to find the 1502 collection of Emerald, Ruby and Black Gold from Enrique Sanchez's Global Premium cigars inside. The next day, I dress the set, tested camera angles, place it in the proper position, put on some sounds of trumpeter Chris Botti and set my bottle of Natural Brew Draft Root beer on the end table.  I now get to smoke the 1502 Emerald.

 

 

I pull it our of it's wrapper and got a strong scent of cocoa from the foot and barnyard from the stick. The foot on this stick had a portion of the wrapper covering it. Enrique refers to this as the Cigar Lock. The "Lock" is there to stop cracking or breaking. This well constructed, minimally veined, honey nut brown colored stick is boxed pressed with a green band with gold lettering which is simple and elegant.

I clipped the cap and tasted cocoa from the very open draw. I lit the foot and tasted notes of cedar and citrus from the first few draws. Later hints of leather and cocoa add to the flavors. The smoke started medium and changed to full and creamy soon after. The burn was a little uneven.

The nice grey ash with spots of black fell off a little past a third of the way in. The smoke was still kicking full and the burn was still a little uneven, reminding me of a roller coaster. I tasted hints of nutmeg, leather, saltiness and a sweetness in this section.

The burn evened out in the last third and the grey ash fell for a second time. The band came off without incident of tearing, cracking or glue stuck to wrapper. Smoke was still pumping out full throttle and I tasted, honey, leather, and nuts. I smoked this cigar until there wasn't any room for my fingers to hold it.

This was a great smoke. Later On I met with a friend and gave him one to smoke. He really enjoyed it and the burn stayed even during the whole smoke. If you get a chance to get some of these cigars, you should. You won't be disappointed and if you enjoy the San Lotano Connecticut you should definitely gives this stick a try. - May 5, 2013

EH Edgar Hoill Cigars Pasion

This cigar created by Edgar Hoill a photographer known for his One Shot One Kill brand. It was recommended to me as a fine smoke. However this cigar has no band and little information on the box. It comes as a chocolate colored stick wrapped in a light white paper with spiderwebbing artwork. I had to search on the internet for the little information I have in this review.









Today, I sat by the pool with this cigar and some Theo's Organic Fair Trade Mint Dark Chocolate  and a Natural Brew Vanilla Creme Soda.

I took a sniff of the foot of this nicely contructed chocolate torpedo with light veins and smelled cocoa and hay. I sniffed the stick and smelled sweet and barnyard. I clipped the cap and took a nice draw of spicy hay. I toasted the foot and the smoke was full and the flavor I tasted was cedar and wood. Later on during this third I also tasted citrus. The burn was uneven and the dense ash was a nice grey with spots and lines of black.

The ash was about to fall for the first time about half way into the stick so I tapped it into the ash tray right before it fell. The burn was almost even and the smoke was pumping out full. Notes of leather and wood were the dominate flavors in this section. A hint of spicy earthiness was also prevalent for a few draws.





The last third and leather, salt and citrus was what I was tasting. The burn evened out and the ash was holding strong and when I saw it begining its decend, I tapped it into the ash tray. I smoked this stick until I couldn't hold it anymore.

This was a nice smoke and I would recommend you give it a try. I just wish I was able to find out more information on the stick. I hope this review helps get more informtion out there.

Garo Los Lectores Robusto

It was an overcast 65 degree afternoon and I decided it was time for a nice smoke. I picked a Garo Los Lectores Robusto from my humidor. I also decided to pair this cigar up with a Natural Brewed Vanilla Creme Soda and a Theo's Organic Fair Trade Salted Almond Dark Chocolate Bar.

I sat by the pool and put on the album, East West Trumpet Summit by Ray Vega and Thomas Mariott and pinched the well constructed, honey brown stick with minimal veins out of it's wrapper and sniffed the foot. I smelled scents of hay and cocoa from the foot and barnyard from the stick. I clipped the cap and took a nice open dry draw of spice and hay. I lit the foot and I tasted cedar notes from the first few draws. Later I tasted nutty notes. The burn was a little uneven and the smoke was medium to full.

The nice dense grey ash with streaks of black held on until about halfway through. The burn continued to be a little uneven and the creamy smoke was kicking on full. Notes of nuts, cedar, earthiness and salt were the dominate flavors in this section. The nice white with gold band came off without incident or damage.

The last third and the burn evened out, and the smoke was still thick and full. Hints of citrus, nuts, cedar with a little spice were the flavors that I tasted during this section of the stick. I smoked this cigar until I couldn't hold it anymore. The paring of the chocolate with the cigar was very nice. Give it a try.
